July 30 - August 3--ST. LUKE'S VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

VBS is open to children grades K-5th and there is no cost to participate. We meet daily from 9 am - 12 pm.  Plan now to bring your kids or grandkids or invite a friend or neighbor!  If you are interested in volunteering to help in some area please talk to Kristine Crisman or call Angela at the St. Luke's office. August 7--Prepare & Serve Homeless Shelter Meal

Volunteers are needed to help cook and serve the shelter meal on Tuesday, August 7. Donations are needed either by signing up to bring or pay for meal ingredients.  Contact Mark Johnson (277-3052) for more info.

August 11--St. Luke's Craft Day

Do you have a craft project that you need to finish?  Do you want to try something new but don't know where to start?  Or do you just want to spend some time with crafty people? Please come join us on August 11th from 9-3.  Come and go as you like, there will be some snacks but lunch is not provided (unless we have a benefactor swoop in at the last minute!)  Bring your supplies and/or your imagination.  There will be a community support project to work on if you don't have anything to do and the company will be fantastic!  If you have questions, see Susan Mathison or call Angela at the St. Luke's office.

August 19--Vestry Meeting 6:00 p.m. (Finance meets at 5:30 p.m.)

August 26--Sack Lunch Buddies Packing

Join us in Orvis Hall at 11:15 a.m. on the fourth Sunday each month to pack lunch sacks to be taken to Central Iowa Shelter.

August 26--Movie Night (Potluck at 4 p.m., Movie at 5 p.m.)

"God's Not Dead" (Rated PG)  College philosophy professor Mr. Radisson's curriculum is challenged by his new student, Josh, who believes God exists.

September 8--Growing Iowa's Leaders Day at St.Luke's 10a.m.--4 p.m.

Growing Iowa's Leaders days are happening all over the dioceses and Saturday, September 8th is at St. Luke's with St. Anne's co-hosting.  Join us for a day of formation and leadership development.

September 9--Bishop's Visit & Confirmation

This year we will have 4 young confirmands.  If any adults wish to be confirmed, received or reaffirmed please contact the church office or Pastor Martha.

September 9--ECW Monthly Meeting

The ECW meets upstairs in Orvis hall the second Sunday of each month (September-May) between the morning services (approximately at 9 a.m.).

September 9--Parish Picnic & Fourth Annual Grandparents Day Celebration!  Grandparents: bring your grandchildren; Grandchildren:  bring your grandparents!

The picnic will be held at St. Luke's and we will have a bounce house for the kids! Burgers, hot dogs,condiments & place settings will be provided. Please bring a side dish/dessert to share and your own drinks.  If you would like to help with the grilling please contact John Kalish at 635-5254.  If you have games, balls, frisbees, etc., to play with after the meal, bring those too.  Bring lawn chairs if you wish to sit outside.  Also--Please RSVP on the sign-up sheet on the Guild Room Bulletin Board so we have ample burgers and dogs for everyone!

September 16--Service at Camp Dodge at 8 a.m.

We will be holding service at Camp Dodge for military personnel and anyone from St. Luke's and the community who wish to come. The normal 8 a.m. service at St. Luke's will meet but will be Morning Prayer. Pastor Martha will be back at St. Luke's for the   10 a.m. service as usual. To enter Camp Dodge you must bring a valid ID. Maps to Camp Dodge are available at the parish office.

This 6 week study will be on Monday nights 6-7 p.m. and is open to everyone.

November 11--World War I Benefit Concert

Join us for an afternoon concert at 2:00 p.m. to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day and the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the American Legion.  The concert will be held at Highland Park American Legion Post #374 (3712 2nd Ave., DSM)
